Dr Anna Tso
The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong
Dr Anna Tso is Head and Associate Professor in the Department of English at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. She obtained her Ph.D. from the School of English, Drama and Creative Studies of The University of Birmingham, England. Interested in children’s literature, myths and fairytales, Shakespeare, digital literacy, and applied linguistics, she has published peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as The International Journal of Early Childhood (SJR-Q1 in Education), Asian Association of Open Universities Journal (SJR-Q1 in Social Sciences), Libri & Liberi (SJR-Q2 in Literature and Literary Theory), and Journal of Language and Linguistic Studies (SJR-Q2 in Language and Linguistics). Her published books include Critical Reflections on ICT and Education (lead editor, 2023), Innovation and Transformation: The Post-pandemic Landscape of Education and Beyond(lead editor, 2023), Digital Communication and Learning: Changes and Challenges (lead editor, 2022), Digital Humanities and New Ways of Teaching (editor, 2019), Reading the Short Story: A Student’s Guide to Selected British, Irish and American Works (lead author, 2019), and Teaching Shakespeare to ESL Students: The Study of Language Arts in Four Major Plays (co-author, 2016). She has received the Internationale Jugendbibliothek fellowship in Munich, served as a PhD external reviewer for The University of Newcastle in Australia, and acted as a review panel member for the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Grants in Canada. She also holds the position of associate editor for the Digital Culture and Humanities book series (Springer, 2017 – present), serves as the President of the Hong Kong Association for Educational Communications and Technology (2022 – present), contributes monthly as a columnist for The Hong Kong Economic Journal, and hosts a radio programme called "The Fairytale World of H.C. Andersen" (2025) at Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).
