Sofia Kamenetskaia is a Doctor of Linguistic Sciences and Research Professor at the Academy of Language and Thought, Autonomous University of Mexico City.

Her research interests include lexicology, lexicography, and semantics (with a particular focus on Mexican Spanish), dialectology, linguistic historiography, and Spanish language teaching.

She is a member of several international scholarly associations, including the Association for the History of the Spanish Language (AHLE), the Association of Linguistics and Philology of Latin America (ALFAL), and the Spanish Association of Lexicographic Studies (AELex).
